Something more about the masjid:

It is known to be one of the largest masjids in country, India. It is known for its remarkable beauty. Interesting is the history of this masjid. It is recorded to be built by the great mughal emperor, Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah. It is recorded that he ordered his men to bring the soil from the holy land of Mecca and make bricks out of that soil. When you enter the masjid then you see at the center an arch which is made from those bricks. The name of the masjid came to be known as Mecca Masjid because of the same reason.
